The IPL Photofacial is a revolutionary new laser skin rejuvenation treatment, that uses Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology. Also known as IPL Photorejuvenation for its restorative properties, this minimally-invasive laser treatment penetrates deep beyond the skin’s outer layers to reduce blemishes, and even out the complexion from the inside-out.
How Does the IPL Photofacial Work?
The IPL laser uses an intense beam of broad-spectrum light, that penetrates the skin’s surface, targeting the lower layer known as the dermis. This intense beam of light has a number of healing and restorative properties for the skin. Once the light energy waves make contact with the dermis it triggers the body’s natural healing mechanism, and proliferates the growth of fresh, new skin cells. The light energy can also stimulate the production of collagen, a vital skin compound that is often depleted with age. This process helps to reduce or eliminate many of the common signs of aging, including wrinkles, sun spots, hyperpigmentation, superficial scars or blemishes, and more.
The added collagen production also has a brilliant effect on the skin. As we age our skin tends to experience something known as Facial Volume Loss, which causes wrinkles, facial folds, dehydrated skin, and overall dull, drained facial contours and complexion. Collagen acts as a natural filling agent, filling the depleted areas, and fortifying the facial contours. It also has the ability to hydrate and moisturize the skin, providing patients with soft, supple, skin with a renewed feel and natural glow.

Procedure and Results
The procedure itself is relatively short, most patients are finished within 30 minutes to an hour, depending upon the severity of their skin issues, as well as the size of the treatment area.
Upon completion patients will generally experience extremely mild side effects; possible redness, and tender skin can occur for a few hours, and last up to a week depending upon the level of correction. Patients are advised to avoid overexposure to sunlight for the first week or two following their procedure, and to apply generous amounts of sunblock, as the skin may be tender immediately following the procedure and sun/UV rays will cause peeling or redness. IPL treatments can provide amazing results that, if properly cared for, can last for years at a time. For more information on IPL Photofacials, or to schedule your next appointment, contact us today.
