Dermaplaning

Skincare dermatology often involves a combination of both medical treatment, and cosmetic enhancement. Dermaplaning provides the best of both worlds, by allowing patients to have clearer, well exfoliated, blemish-free skin.

Dermaplaning is a specially designed skincare treatment, used to exfoliate the skin, removing old, dead skin cells from the skin’s surface, and stimulating the growth of brand new, healthy skin cells, to take their place.

How does it work?
The dermaplaning procedure is performed using a medical scalpel. First, we cleanse the skin, removing the outer layer of oil, known as sebum, from the epidermis. The scalpel is then used to glide across the skin, removing more dirt, oil, and debris; making sure to remove the entire outer layer of dead skin cells, providing maximum exfoliation in the process. The dermaplaning process will also remove any micro-fiber hairs or “peachfuzz” on the skin’s outer layer, allowing patients healthier, smooth, blemish-free skin.

Once we exfoliate the skin’s outer layer, removing dead skin cells, the skin is ready to be polished using a microdermabrasion cream as well as other chemical solutions. Depending on your specific skincare needs, and your specific skin type, different serums, and solutions may be applied.

Once the outer film of dead skin cells, oils, dirt, and debris, are removed from the skin’s surface, chemical compounds or solutions can now penetrate into the inner layers of the skin. This allows for the pores to be emptied of all the dirt, and dead skin cells that may have clogged them. Once they are cleaned, the solutions will help to close or shrink them preventing future clogs from developing.

The creams we apply will cleanse the pores and exfoliate the skin even deeper, without leaving any redness or irritations on the skin’s surface.

Benefits of Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is a very beneficial process to a patient’s skin. We are able to manually exfoliate the skin, without damaging any capillaries or creating any surface blemishes in the process. Some of the other benefits of dermaplaning are:
